subtle cheetah announces a call for scores for our first season!
subtle cheetah is launching a call for scores for female-identifying composers, whose voices are often underrepresented in the classical music world. This call for scores is targeted toward composers in the early stages of their careers.
Entries for brass trio, quartet, or quintet will be accepted that use any combination of our instrumentation: 2 Trumpets, 1 Horn, 1 Tenor Trombone, and 1 Bass Trombone.
Each of three (3) winners will be awarded a $200 cash prize, a public performance of the selected work in New York City, and a professional recording of that work.
Submissions should be between 6 and 15 minutes in length. The deadline for submission is August 1, 2019. Winners will be notified via email, as well as announced on subtle cheetah’s official website, facebook, and instagram.
The concert featuring the winning compositions will take place in late 2019.
There is no application fee. Only one submission per person.
Applicants must identify as female, non-binary, or trans
